The local area

To make the most of your stay, it helps to know interesting and fun places to visit, where to shop, the best local eateries and of course where get your bread and croissants in the morning. We try to get together with you, soon after your arrival, to pass on this valuable local knowledge.
Shops
La Ferme at La Petite Mimosa is on the edge of a pretty village where you will find a little shop selling fresh bread, newspapers and basic groceries.
Supermarkets can be found nearby in Piégut-Pluviers, Nontron, Chalus and St. Mathieu.
The village restaurant
Just around the corner there is a little bar/restaurant offering lunches at very reasonable prices. They host lovely music evenings throughout the summer and ‘moules et frites’ nights. They also provide an excellent place sit and while away a morning over a coffee or a beer or two.
Don't miss the splendidly shaded boules pitch just behind the restaurant.
Eating out
We will give you a list of good restaurants and cafés when you arrive. Let us know the sort of food and experience you are looking for and we will do our best to advise.
Markets, Fetes and Events
Marval, our village, hosts a market every sunday morning with local produce and live music.
The restaurant courtyard, which is situated across from the market area, provides a perfect 'people watching' opportunity whilst you soak up the atmosphere.
There are a number of markets in the locality but by far the most impressive is the Piegut Pluviers market held every Wednesday morning; 15 minutes drive from here.
Fetes, night markets and events are scheduled, throughout the summer. Please ask and we will research what is happening during your stay.
What to do at La Ferme?
There is plenty of space for the children to play on site here at La Ferme . We offer table tennis, badminton, pétanque, football, darts and of course the pool.
We love to hear our guests and their children whooping with joy as they play in the pool and so do our neighbours...so feel free to make a noise and enjoy yourselves!!
Swimming in the lakes
There is a choice of swimming nearby at Saint-Estèphe, Saint Mathieu and Saint-Saud-Lacoussière. All offer excellent lake beaches with lovely walks around the perimeters, restaurants, cafes, fishing, play and exercise equipment.
